We Thank You...
Hortense Miller donated her house and 2.5 acre garden to the city of Laguna Beach in 1973. Some of the stipulations of her gift were that she continue to live in her home as long as she was able, that it remain a garden, and that The Friends of the Hortense Miller Garden, Inc. help train docents to give garden tours and maintain the property. Since her gift, the property has survived two major fires: the Boat Canyon fire in 1979 and the Laguna Beach fire in 1993.
Because of its age, the hilly terrain, and its proximity to the ocean, maintaining the house and garden is a major undertaking.
We appreciate the continued support of these benefactors as well as other private individuals who have donated over the years.
