C. hiemalis

C. hiemalis was imported to Japan from Shanghai as pot plants for winter holiday decorations.  Originally considered a form of C. sasanqua, it is now classified as C. hiemalis due to its later, longer bloom and heavier-textured flowers.

The seedling for our plant originated from Jisuke Minagawa in Japan.  It growns in the patio garden underneath the Jacaranda tree.
